Melany B. Atkins (OoA, 2002)
Dr. Melany B. Atkins (Order of Augusta 2002) received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from West Virginia University in 2002 and was named to Phi Beta Kappa. After graduating from the WVU School of Medicine in 2006, she completed her radiology residency in 2011. From 2011-2012, she was a Cross-Sectional Imaging Fellow at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Since 2012, she has served as Director of Cardiac Imaging and Co-Medical
Director of the Fairfax MRI Center for Fairfax Radiology Consultants in
Fairfax, Virginia. Since 2017, she has served as a Clinical Advisory Board
member, Arterys, Cloud based medical imaging company specializing in deep
learning/artificial intelligence and cardiac imaging applications. Her October
2023 presentation was titled "Utilizing AI in Medicine and Radiology: Will
we still need doctors?"
Liz Gulick Henderson (OoA, 2015)
Liz Guilick Henderson graduated from West Virginia University in 2015 as an Order of Augusta recipient with a Bachelor of Arts in multidisciplinary studies and Master of Arts in elementary education. She played for the WVU volleyball team from 2010-2013, and she was named to the 2012 & 2013 Capital One Academic All-District 2 Women’s Volleyball Team, was a 2013 Big 12 Leadership Summit Attendee, named a 2013-14 Big 12 Sportsperson of the Year Finalist,and served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee 2010-2014 and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team from 2013-2014.
After working for two years as an
elementary special education teacher in Mississippi, Liz transitioned to
staying home as a military wife and, eventually, mom to two boys. During that
time, she found ways to pursue her passion for health and fitness while holding
down the home front during various cross-country moves and military deployments.
Currently, she hosts the Tough Love Mom Podcast, a top ranked fitness podcast for moms.
