Roger Hanshaw

A native of Clay County, Roger Hanshaw received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from WVU in 2002, a PhD in chemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 2006 (where he also received the Outstanding Teaching Award), and his JD from the WVU College of Law in 2012.

Currently, Roger is a member of  the Law Firm of Bowles Rice LLP where he specializes in Environmental Litigation issues. Hanshaw represents District 33 (Cahoun, Clay and Gilmer Counties). A Certified Professional Parliamentarian, he has served as the Speaker of the WV House of Delegates since 2018.
