Mary Bess Marantz and the 2021 WVU Festival of Ideas

Mary Bess Marantz
As part of the West Virginia University Order of Augusta Welcome Home Initiative, WVU Presidential Student Ambassadors and Order of Augusta recipients were invited to a February 2021 preview of Mary Bess Marantz’s new book, Dirt, a personal memoir about growing up in West Virginia.  The following week, she was featured as a speaker in the WVU Festival of Ideas.

Festival of Ideas Host Carolyn Atkins introduced Marantz’s story as a reminder that a successful life encompasses many traits:  drive, determination, hard work, patience, passion, and the desire to connect with others. Atkins continued, “Who would have thought that a young girl who grew up in a single-wide trailer in rural West Virginia… would be the first in  her family to attend college…would continue to graduate from Yale’s prestigious law school….and would build with her husband, Justin, a successful online education platform for creative entrepreneurs?”

Inducted into Order of Augusta in 2006, Mary also is host of the Mary Marantz Show.  Read more about this WVU graduate’s stellar accomplishments at https://marymarantz.com/.
