After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs, Russian Language from West Virginia University, Garrett received a Master of Science in Data Analytics from The Johns Hopkins University.

Capt. Garrett Burgess currently serves as Regional Watch Officer at US Indo-Pacific Command in Honolulu, Hawaii.In this position, Garrett partners closely with other components of the U.S. Intelligence Community, sub-unified commands, theater components, allies, and foreign partners to provide all-source, multidisciplinary intelligence, situational awareness, initial analysis, and threat-based warning to support USINDOPACOM's operations and decision-making. Prior to that appointment, he was the Deputy Senior Intelligence Officer at Andrews AFB in Maryland where he directed the  20-member flight for Presidential movement and airlift security.
